UPDATE
Knights of Columbus, Father James Reid Council 2194
We have completed a very productive first year as one combined council. We’ve enjoyed getting to know each other better and working together to continue the good work of both previous councils. Some of these projects are Youth Basketball Free-Throw Tournament, donation of new basketballs to the local Special Olympics, gift of a new scoreboard for the Saints Peter and Paul School gymnasium, Bishop’s Project Christmas Seal drive, and “Blue Bucket” Collections for McGuire Memorial and St. Anthony’s School, “Chance of a Lifetime” raffle program supporting youth scholarships, Citizenship Award Program for 8th graders at Saints Peter and Paul School, cooked for the Saints Peter and Paul Golf Outing, sponsorship of Capuchin and Diocesan seminarians, and financial support for the Parish Picnic and Youth Ministry Franciscan University Trip. Plus, we have been recently recognized with the Cardinal Wright Award!
Please join us in congratulating our newest initiates
– Mike Sabo, Jr. and Paul Farkasovsky – our first new members as one unified council! Men-18 years old and older: interested in learning more about the Knights of Columbus? We’d love to tell you more. We meet at 7:00 p.m., on the second Monday of the month, in the lower level of the Religious Education Center at the Saint Cecilia campus – you are always welcome!
Addiction Recovery Ministry (ARM)
Addiction Recovery Ministry has been approved to receive funds through United Way of Southwestern PA. Our book/code number is 1656671 and donors should use this number to identify our ministry.
Addiction Recovery Ministry is establishing a resource library in the hall of St. Francis of Assisi Church. The library will have literature available for those suffering from substance use disorders and their loved ones, as well as a computer and print- er for other needs. We are currently researching the items need- ed for this library and hope to raise several thousand dollars for this endeavor. Any donation you can give would be greatly ap- preciated.
We are also in need of items for our Light of Life Res- cue Mission Brown Bag Lunch initiative. We provide lunches monthly and items needed are lunches in a box (tuna or chicken salad with crackers,) chewing gum, cookies, granola bars, fruit cups, drink mixes (individual powder tubes,) drink pouches, candy, and chips. Items can be dropped off at St. Francis of Assisi, 2599 Freeport Road, Harmar, anytime from Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 in the afternoon.
Father Michael gives weekly presentations at 1:00 p.m. on our Facebook page, Addiction Recovery Ministry Pittsburgh, as well as a monthly presentation on the third Monday of each month at 7:00 in the evening. Monthly presentations are held in person at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Harmar or on our Facebook page.
Thank you very much for your support of our work!
